About Me:
I’ve called Fairview home since I was three, and after graduating from Belleville East high school, I moved away to join the Marines. When my military service wrapped up, I returned to the area and attended college with the help of the G.I. Bill, first at SWIC and then at SIUE, while slinging dishes, flipping steaks, and waiting tables at the old Ponderosa on N. Illinois. I graduated in 2006 with a degree in English Education in hand, and started teaching at Belleville West High School, where I’ve had the privilege of working ever since.
While teaching, I decided to further my understanding of the education system by earning a master’s degree in Educational Administration. I took courses in school law, finance, curriculum development, and more, which gave me a clearer perspective on how schools operate behind the scenes.
A few years ago, my wife and I decided to move into the Grant school district, with the quality of its schools being a key factor in our decision. With two young daughters, one of whom starts at Grant next year, we wanted to make sure we were in a district that shares our values and commitment to education. After asking around, we heard nothing but positive things about Grant’s teachers and staff, and we knew this would be a good place to call home.
"When we invest in strong, high-quality schools, the entire community benefits."
Why I'm Running:
My two littlest ones will be starting at Illini soon!
Public schools are a true reflection of their community’s values, and when we invest in strong, high-quality schools, the entire community benefits. Good schools not only attract engaged, supportive families but also help raise confident, capable young people who grow up ready to contribute back to the place that raised them. Supporting my community means showing up, getting involved, and finding ways to help that add up over time.
I want my daughters to have the best educational experience possible, surrounded by dedicated teachers and resources that allow them—and their friends—to thrive. This isn’t just for them; it’s for every family we’ll see at those parent/teacher conferences, cheering at games, clapping at concerts, or laughing at school plays. Strong public schools help build and sustain a connected, thriving community.
Advocating for transparent budgeting and responsible financial practices
Prioritizing hiring and retaining exceptional teachers, while ensuring classrooms and students have the resources they need for success
Ensuring the district’s policies, decisions, and goals are communicated clearly, with avenues for parent and community feedback.
Fostering stronger connections between schools and the local community
With decades of teaching experience, I understand the concerns of parents, kids, and teachers.
With a master's degree in education administration, I understand how schools function from an administrative perspective.
I served on my union's executive board in various roles for over 10 years, including as parliamentarian, campus representative, and public relations chair.
